 - A Brief Introduction -

Hi, I'm Emma.

My therapeutic practice focuses on awareness, embodiment, and expression as means to develop insight, regulation, and agency.

I knew I wanted to work in a meaningful way with mental health when I first discovered that psychotherapy can produce physical changes in the body.  For me, the idea that our experiences - talking, moving, making, feeling - produce embodied change was a profound realization.  Intentional practices such as mindful movement, meditation, and art-making helped and continue to help me develop the tolerance and skill I need to face challenges in my own life.

Creative expression, curiosity, and critical thinking are at the core of my personal and professional practice.  The world is full of so many interesting and beautiful things and I am honoured to be able to help people get in touch with those aspects of themselves.  I believe there is always something to learn and room to grow.

I have worked, studied, and lived across Canada in rural and urban settings.  Currently, I can often be found trying to grow things in the backyard, spending time with the creatures in my life (a dog and two cats so far...), or walking by the ocean.

In my own artistic practice, I enjoy using mixed media to explore process and experience.  I love to explore texture, gesture, and new techniques.  I also love to make birds.  My art practice helps me keep in touch with my own creative expression and reflect on my experience.

The thing I appreciate most about my work is the opportunity to see people continually surprise themselves with their own strength, depth, and skill.

The most profound thing I have learned so far in my professional journey is that people are unimaginably strong and resilient.  I continue to be in awe of how we not only survive, but learn, grow, and thrive.
